Ranji Trophy 2016-17, Round 8, Day 2: Punjab trail Gujarat by 608 runs

Former champions Punjab continued to trail fellow former champions Gujarat , by a mammoth 608 runs, on Day Two of Round 8 of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2016-17, at the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Stadium in Belagavi on Wednesday. Punjab are currently batting on 16 for the loss of a wicket, as Jiwanjot Singh is the only man to be dismissed for 1, while opener Manan Vohra and Sandeep Sharma are currently on the crease, while RP Singh is the only man to have claimed the wicket. Priyank was also the first cricketer from Gujarat, who scored a tripe century in First Class cricket, while he ramained unbeaten on 314 on Day Two of the Ranji Trophy Group A match on Wednesday. Panchal played as many as 460 balls, collecting 32 fours in the process. He also went past Mukund Parmar’s 283 to become the first triple centurion from the state. Panchal has also been on a rock and roll form this season in the tournament, having scored 232 and 56 in his previous couple of innings against Mumbai. It was as a result of his innings, Gujarat declared their first innings at 624 for six after starting the day at 281 for two.
